What can I expect after a breast lift?
When performing a breast lift, it is not always possible to achieve perfect symmetry. The symmetry depends on the natural position and shape of your breasts. It could be that after the operation, the final shape of your breasts and the sensation in your nipples is different from what you had expected. Due to the stress on the breast tissue, there is always the possibility that the final modal may look different to how it looked just after the correction. The final results won’t be visible until at least two months afterwards. The breasts will be more supple, and they will relax a little. The sensation in the nipples will return a little after three to six months.
How do I care for the wound? Aftercare Instructions for a breast augmentation or breast lift
You may have a shower the day after the operation; however, you will need to make sure that the wound stays dry. The bandages are waterproof and can be dabbed dry. However, do not remove the bandages during the first two weeks – they are attached to the sutures. The sutures will dissolve on their own and may also not be removed.
What you should keep in mind:
- For the first two weeks: do not raise your arms, do not do any sports and avoid direct sunlight.
- For the first six weeks: Get plenty of rest and avoid physically strenuous activities – such as cleaning the house: vacuuming, cooking or lifting heavy objects. Do not go swimming or visit the sauna in the first six weeks.
You should protect the scar from the sun for the first year so that it will not change colour. Should you experience any redness, swelling, or develop a fever or have an open wound or should there be other matters of concern, do not hesitate to contact the Diana Gabriels Practice.
After the operation, you should wear a bra that offers plenty of support but with no underwire. We have good quality bra’s available in several models. We have bra’s with supported side cups, a hook closure at the front or back, with adjustable straps or fixed wider straps.
