Labia correcion: Labia minora & labia majora

What is a labia correction of the labia minora?

A labia correction or labia reduction provides a better relationship between the inner and outer labia. It often happens that women suffer from too large inner labia. This procedure resolves discomfort in, among other things, exercising and having sex.

Enlarged inner labia can occur due to a number of causes:

  • It can simply be congenital
  • The labia can change permanently during / after a delivery
  • The skin can loosen due to menopause
  • Continuous irritation of the labia

What is a labia correction of the labia majora?

The labia majora are the hairy skin folds that protect the opening of the vagina and the labia minora. The shape of the labia lips is different for every woman. The large labia can be enlarged due to surplus skin and / or tissue. It may also have occurred after weight loss. If there is excess skin can be corrected with a labia majora correction. The excess tissue is then removed. The cosmetic gynecologist will determine in advance how much tissue will be removed.

What can I expect after a labia correction?

After the labia correction of the inner labia, it is important that aftercare is performed properly. This will help to heal the wounds as nicely as possible and to ensure optimal results.

When the procedure is performed, a swelling will develop around the labia. It is important to cool this area every ten minutes and to keep doing this regularly for two to three days. Also with the cooling, the labia can remain swollen for a long time and it can take 6 to 10 weeks for the swelling to completely disappear. The cooling ensures that the swelling is as minimal as possible.

It is also possible that the skin feels deaf for a long time. These complaints are almost always temporary.

The scar can feel hard after the labia correction. In the course of several months, when the wound is cured, this will disappear and all the scar will become softer again.

When you are allowed to work again depends on the type of work you do. Discuss this with the cosmetic gynecologist.

We advise you not to have sexual contact until 6 weeks after the operation and not to exercise. In addition, heavy physical work and heavy lifting is not recommended. It is the intention that there will be as little pressure as possible on the wounds and heavy effort ensures that there is pressure on it.

Towel

Furthermore, it is not wise not to sit on a seat ring or pool, because the swelling in this way becomes larger. We advise you to sit on a rolled-up towel. With that you mimic a pressure bandage. Also on the day of treatment please bring a towel. To prevent swelling you can sit on the towel on the way back immediately after the treatment.
