BEFORE & AFTERS

Dry Vagina Femilift

There are various reasons for a dry vagina. The most important being menopause. During and after menopause, women often go through many hormonal changes. They can produce, for example, less oestrogen and experience changes in the mucous membranes and the connective tissue around the vagina. This causes the skin in the vagina to become thinner, dryer and more sensitive. This is known as atrophic vaginitis.

Much can change in the hormonal balance, even during pregnancy or after childbirth. The amount of vaginal mucous can decrease. Stress and certain medications, such as the pill and anti-depressants, can also cause vaginal dryness.

In the end, the vagina can become more prone to infections and dryness. Sexual intercourse can be uncomfortable and painful. The symptoms can also cause blood loss and stress-related incontinence. With Femilift, we can help you to get rid of your symptoms.

What are the advantages of this treatment?

  • Improved blood circulation

  • Improved stimulation of the mucous balance

  • No more pain during sex

  • No more vaginal itching

When am I a suitable candidate for Femilift?

Every woman can experience vaginal dryness, but it is most common among women during or after menopause. More than half of those aged 51 to 60 suffer from this. About a quarter of women aged between 50 and 59 suffer from dryness during sexual intercourse, and some may even experience it as painful.

How does the treatment against vaginal dryness work?

Femilift treatment is a laser treatment that warms up the tissues of the vagina. This causes the fibres in the skin to shrink, and it stimulates the production of new collagen. Thanks to the improved blood flow and the stimulation of the mucous balance, the vagina will already feel less dry after the second treatment.

The procedure is carried out using a mild sedative. You should not feel anything. Femilift is not an operation – you may continue with your daily routine directly afterwards.

The procedure is carried out three times to achieve the desired results. There must be a minimum of four weeks, and preferably a maximum of six weeks, between treatments. We advise you to repeat the treatment once a year to get the best effect.

You will need to buy a Probe for this procedure. This is a one-off purchase. It is a tube that goes over the laser before the treatment is given. This Probe is for you only, which means that the treatment is given using the utmost hygiene. You can buy the Probe at the practice.

What can I expect after having had the treatment for a dry vagina?

The biggest advantage of Femilift is that this Co2-laser treatment is not an operation. In this way, your daily routine will not be interrupted, and there is no long-term recovery period.

You may resume your normal life straight away. We do advise you to avoid sexual contact, and not to have a bath and not to wash the vagina internally for the first two to three days.

It is normal to experience some redness, discharge and swelling for two to three days. This is nothing to worry about. You can use a sanitary towel should you have any discharge.  We do not recommend using tampons. Should you have any doubts, please feel free to contact the clinic for advice. We can be reached daily from 08:00 till 21:00 on this number: +31 (0)180-439001.

It is not advisable to sit on a doughnut cushion or a swimming float because this can cause the swelling to increase. We advise you to sit on a rolled-up towel, which will act as a pressure bandage. We kindly ask you to bring your own towel with you on the day of your treatment. So that directly after the treatment, you can sit on the towel on your way home, and this will prevent any swelling.
